Exhibits

Through the years, we have done different exhibits in different places. These exhibits have contributed a lot in the promotion of the hobby. It was also one avenue where we met a lot of people who became CSCI members, benefactors, sponsors, and friends.

1996
Rizal Martyrdom Centennial Stamp Exhibition
Date: December 18 - 31, 1996
Venue: Cebu City Museum, Osmena Blvd., Cebu City
 

The Rizal Martyrdom Centennial Stamp Exhibition was the first major exhibit Cebu Stamp Club, Incorporated embarked.


It was an undertaking supported by the Philippine Postal Corporation and the Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission.


The former First Lady of the City, Ninette Garcia, along with Philpost Regional Manager Fabiolita Ferraris and Sir Joseph Pritchard of the Order of the Knights of Rizal were the honored guests for the event. Stamps and First Day Covers of Rizal and Rizaliana were featured from the collection of Richard Allan Uy.

The 1997 Philippine Centennial Stamp Show
Date: June 12-18, 1997
Venue: Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City

To commemorate the Centennial Year of the Filipino Spirit, CSCI spearheaded a philatelic exhibit that showcased stamps on the Philippine Revolution, heroes, the life and works of Jose Rizal, and other interesting items. This event was a joint undertaking between Cebu Stamp Club, Incorporated; National Centennial Commission; Philpost; Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission of the City of Cebu; Save the Filipino Youth Movement and Ayala Center Cebu in cooperation with M. Carangue Enterprises, Philippine Information Agency, University of Cebu, University of  San Carlos Girls High, and Tang.

Kagawasan!Philippine Independence Through Stamps
Date: June 1998
Venue: Sala Foundation Center, Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City

CSCI and Philpost supported Richard Allan Uy's one-man centennial exhibit titled Kagawasan! Philippine Independence Through Stamps. This exhibit was part of the Salvador and Pilar Sala Foundation's centennial activities.

Kagawasan! Centennial Stamp Exhibition
Date: June 11-18, 1998
Venue: SM City Cebu, Reclamation Area, Cebu City

THE launching of the Kagawasan! Centennial Stamp Exhibition was held on June 11, 1998 with a loud bang!. This mega event was the first of its kind in Cebu. The show was opened by a dance number by Jollibee. We also came up with a cultural presentation by the University of Southern Philippines Centennial Youth Leaders Program Delegates as well as another number by the USP Dance Troupe. A beautiful Regine Velasquez classic was sang by Jane Sanchez while twins Angie and Haidee Colegado presented a special musical number. Sam Costanilla did a splendid job as master of ceremonies. There was food and drinks compliments of Jollibee, Barrio Fiesta Restaurant, Mister Donut, Rebisco and Tang.


The Cebu Tri-media sent in representatives to cover the event. ABS-CBN, GMA, RPN, as well as the Freeman Newspaper, Cebu Daily News, the Independent Post, and of course Sunstar Daily whose support was very much appreciated with their sponsorship of a full page poster ad in their newspaper. Pluggings were also done by Bombo Radyo, DYBU, DYRC, and Bantay Radio. The Philippine Information Agency assisted us too.


We came up with a Power Point presentation through the computers of Rhine Marketing Corporation. The poster lay-out was done by Tools and Logic Systems Inc. courtesy of Ms. Rowena Cuyno. Streamers were provided by JOJ Ocleasa Inc. while M. Carangue's Dulce Carangue was instrumental in sponsoring the printing of our posters and the souvenir invitations.

Cebu Stamp Club, Inc and the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission embarked on a special project to give tribute to the heroism of Andres Bonifacio.

Las Islas Filipinas Mall Tour
Date: July 31 - August 15, 1999
Venue: SM City Cebu, Reclamation Area, Cebu City

The closing exhibit for the Las Islas Filipinas tour was held at SM City Cebu on July 31,1999 to August 15,1999.


Major sponsors for the event were the Philippine Philatelic Centre for Development, Research and Promotion Inc., Cebu Jaycees, Inc, City Card Promotions Company, SM City Cebu, EGI Resort Hotel, Cebu Futuristics Society, Negros Navigation, Ayala Center Cebu, USJR Jaguar Junior Jaycees, and Metropolitan Cebu Junior Jaycees.

PAPAL EXHIBIT IN TALISAY CITY. Upon the request of the Philippine Postal Corporation, the mini Papal exhibit was on display for two weeks at the Talisay City Post Office.

Pope John Paul II, A Tribute Through Stamps
Date: August 28 - September 08, 2005
Venue: Paseo Marina, Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City

Richard Allan Uy decided to add more materials to the mini exhibit and to exhibit it at the Ayala Center Cebu on August 28, 2005. With new materials added, the exhibit was retitled to Pope John Paul II, A Tribute Through Stamps. A week after the mall exhibit, it was brought to different schools with the University of Southern Philippines hosting the first school tour of the exhibit in its Lahug Campus..

Philippine Heroes on Stamps
Date: August 23 - 26, 2007
Venue: Activity Center, Elizabeth Mall, Cebu City

To celebrate National Heroes Day, Cebu Stamp Club, Incorporated and the Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC) came up with this unique exhibit featuring the heroes of the Philippines and integrates pictures and stamps.

 

The success of this presentation was made possible through the support extended by the Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission, Vice Mayor Michael Rama, Councilor Gerardo Carillo, Councilor Manuel Legaspi, Osman Jumalon, Dionisio Sy, Elizabeth Go, Elizabeth Mall, Florentino Boligor, Nelia Buhawe, Erwin dela Cerna, Rebecca Atillo, Jenny Atillo, Jeff Legaspi, Don Carlos Gothong Memorial High School Dance Troupe, Cebu City Dance Sports Kids, Sharee Ann Trapa, Edwin Uy, Edison Go, Richard Guimbarda, Cebu Stars Wars Club and Richard Allan Uy, whose stamps were used.

Las Islas Filipinas (The Philatelic Tour) was a mega exhibit that involved not only stamps and philatelic materials but as well as paintings, dioramas, cross-stitch designs, costumes, and other materials that depict different eras of Philippine history.


Conceptualized by Richard Allan Uy, this one of a kind exhibit was officially launched at Ayala Center Cebu on January 30,1999 and ended on February 10, 1999.


Major Sponsors include Ayala Center Cebu, CHAC, USP Foundation, Negros Navigation.

To coincide with the 2005 Kadaugan sa Mactan, Cebu Stamp Club, Inc. was invited by the Lapu-lapu City Government's Tourism, Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (TCHAC) to come up with a philatelic exhibit.


We came up with a mini tribute to Pope John Paul II who passed away a few days earlier. The exhibit was titled, A Philatelic Tribute to John Paul II and was presented in cooperation with TCHAC and PHILPOST.
